How to Find Secret Rooms
Each floor in Enter the Gungeon usually has one secret room containing chests, shrines, and NPCs — learn how to locate it reliably and open it without wasting resources.

Secret rooms are rooms that don't appear on the map by default. Most floors have one, though it's possible to have none or several. Their entrances are hidden in walls and require specific methods to open.
What secret rooms can contain
- Pickups:
Corazón,
Llave,
Armadura,
Fogueo,
Munición
Piedra de guon de cristal, chests (see
Chest Guide (Qualities & Mimics)), shrines, and a
Mirror- NPCs: the
Brujas del intercambio de armas, the
Anciano and
Buscador de la verdad – Brother Albern appear only in secret rooms; other NPCs can show up here too (see
All NPCs & Merchants Guide for what each one does)
Alto fuego de armadragón (secret rooms only), Evil Muncher (weapon-swap mechanics: see
Dungeon Objects Guide (Mirrors, Black Market & Munchers))
Locating secret rooms
There are three ways to locate a secret room: read it straight off an item, test the wall itself, or narrow the search down from visual cues in the layout.
Locating it with items
These items reveal secret room locations directly, no guesswork needed:
Mapa /
Plano de la Armazmorra — Shows all rooms on the floor including secret rooms
Ladrillo de dinero — A small indicator appears next to secret room entrances- Sinergias - Lucidez — A synergy icon appears next to secret room entrances

Testing the wall
Without those items, shoot suspect walls with a non-infinite-ammo weapon — entrance walls develop visible cracks. Lower-damage guns need more shots before cracks appear; enemy bullets also work. To save ammo entirely, walk straight into a wall: if the character plays the walking animation without moving, there's an entrance there.

Visual cues also help: entrance walls are slightly different in color from surrounding walls (most noticeable in chest rooms); a corridor-width indent in a wall is a strong hint; and a short dead-end passage terminating at a wall (especially in shrine rooms) often hides an entrance. Entrances never appear behind room objects, and walls with no space behind them can be skipped.
Opening the entrance
Once found, use one of the following to open the wall:
- Use a
Fogueo - Trigger a blank effect:
Fogueo mayor,
Daruma,
Fogueo Mesatec,
Grial hueco,
Anillo de compañero fogueo,
Balas de fogueo, armor breaking,
Arma compuesta - Certain explosives:
Bomba,
Pequeño bombardero, or a fused chest exploding
Efficient search strategy
Checking every wall wastes ammo and time. Prioritize in this order:
- On the way through chest rooms, quickly shoot the wall on the side with no exit — chest rooms are small and quick to check
- In any non-
Comerciante – Bello NPC room, check the walls — secret rooms connect most often to shops, chest rooms, NPC rooms, dead-end corridors, and elevator exits - After killing the Boss, spend leftover
Fogueos in likely rooms —
Fogueos refill to the default (usually 2) on the next floor anyway - The starting room, boss room, the room just before the boss, the room containing the
Viejo blasón, and the room leading to the Abadía del Arma Verdadera never have secret rooms — skip them
