Its beam-like effect most-closely resembles the Fire Rod's original incarnation, as a "synergy" between a Magic Rod and a "Book of Magic" (or the Bible) in the first game. The tagline "Missing Link" refers to Link, the protagonist of The Legend of Zelda, directly. The term "missing link" also refers to any freshly-discovered specimen with elements of both an older species and a newer one, presumed to be from a transitional period. In this case, the link is between the old magic of an ancient Gungeon master (possibly the Gunslinger ) and the Gungeon's newer Guns.
