This gun was originally called “Marine Issue” in the pre-alpha.
While it is impossible to see in-game due to the gun having the infinite ammo variable set to true, the Marine Sidearm has a maximum ammo of 350.
The appearance of this weapon seems to be based on M-3 Predator in Mass Effect series.
